London Pop Orchestra, the – He ain’t heavy he’s my brother.

London Pop Orchestra, the - He ain't heavy he's my brother. A song composed in 1969 by Bob Russell and Bobby Scott. The gentlemen met only three times, after which Russell died of a debilitating illness. Nevertheless they made this beautiful composition. The song was first recorded by Kelly Gordon but the hit version was for The Hollies, while Neil Diamond had a small hit with it. An instrumental version was recorded by the London Pop Orchestra in 1970. That version was used by Roger Kirk on RNI as a filler on April 29, 1971. It became his only programme because he was taken off the next day due to severe seasickness.
