About the last broadcast in 1986 (source www.offshoreechos.com😞

On Monday 15th, Paul Dean announced at 12.58 that Laser was going off the air “due to Force to storms, increasing to force 11". A faulty insulator at the top of the aerial system was arcing badly and this and other insulators had to be replaced, in fairly calm weather before the station could return to the air. This break in transmissions lasted for 11 days, with Laser returning on 26th December 1986, Boxing Day afternoon with continuous music.
After an eleven-day break in transmissions, Laser returned on Boxing Day, Friday 26th December 1986 with continuous music and occasional test announcements. These were heard again the following day and again on Sunday 28th, breaking for the pre-recorded "Motown Magic" show with David Lee Stone and for the Elvis Presley half-hour at 14.00. On the 30th Laser closed at 11.39, returning for five minutes at 12.52 when reception reports were requested. More non-stop music was heard at 15.58 continuing right through until 10.47 on 31st December 1986, when the station abruptly left the air without warning.
