    Manneken Pis Rock

    Janko Nilovic and Mad Unity – Manneken-Pis Rock. Dit nummer is afkomstig van de lp Funky Tramway, die in 1975 op het Omega label uitkwam. Het nummer Manneken-Pis Rock is een compositie van Janko Nilovic, in 1941 geboren in Turkije met een vader afkomstig uit Montenegro en een Griekse moeder. Helemaal internationaal werd het na de verhuizing in 1960 naar Frankrijk. Tientallen lp’s, vooral met productiemuziek op het MPRecords label heeft de man gecomponeerd en geproduceerd. Manneken-Pis Rock werd in juni 1976 door Joop Verhoof gebruikt om zijn programma op Radio Mi Amigo af te sluiten. Janko Nilovic and Mad Unity - Manneken-Pis Rock.   2. San Remo Strings – Festival Time. Deze formatie, afkomstig uit Detroit, ging eerst door het leven als de San Remo Golden Strings. Eén van de huisorkestjes van Tamla Motown. In 1971 kwam het nummer Festival Time uit dat door Peter van Dam in december 1976 werd gebruikt om een prijsvraag te promoten op Radio Mi Amigo. Luisteraars werden opgeroepen om de nummer 1 van de top 100 over het jaar 1976 te raden. Op 31 december zou de uitslag en prijswinnaars bekend worden gemaakt. San Remo Strings - Festival Time.   5. Space Art – Onyx. Space Art was een Frans duo dat tussen 1977 en 1981 3 lp’s op de markt bracht met elektronische muziek en bestond uit Dominique Perrier en Roger Rizzitelli. Onyx komt van de gelijknamige eerste lp van Space Art. Het is zo’n typisch deuntje dat blijft hangen bij herhaald horen. In dit geval werd het nummer gebruikt op Radio Mi Amigo bij een spot voor een van de belangrijkste adverteerders: ‘Wie kan Uw huis volledig inrichten met luxe meubelen voor minder dan 25.000 BFr?’ Juist, Vermeer Thijs en Zonen aan de Boerenkrijglaan te Westerlo. Een compositie van Ary Barrosso en Bob Russell dat door de Ritchie Family in 1975 op het 20 Century label werd uitgebracht en redelijk hoog scoorde in diverse landen. Het was niet alleen op single leverbaar maar ook op de gelijknamige lp. Peter van Dam, op Radio Mi Amigo, gebruikte het als filler in zijn programma ‘met Peter gaat het beter’. Niet alleen om te draaien richting de klok van het hele uur maar ook om vrouwelijke bezoekers van de studio in Playa de Aro groeten aan vrienden te laten doen.   13. Vincent Bell – Airport love theme. Een prachtig instrumentaal nummer gecomponeerd door Alfred Newman en in 1970 opgenomen door de Amerikaanse gitarist Vincent Bell, op het DECCA label. Het nummer werd datzelfde jaar nog door minimaal 15 orkesten opgenomen waaronder die van Henry Mancini, Ronnie Alrdrich, Living Strings en Roger Williams. Op Tweede Kerstdag 1975 opende Stan Haag zijn ochtendprogramma op Radio Mi Amigo met deze tune waarbij hij vertelde dat die dag een aangepaste muziekdag zou worden zonder de standaard programma’s en dus ook niet met Stan Haag deel 1 en 2. Vincent Bell - Airport love theme. A beautiful instrumental song composed by Alfred Newman and recorded in 1970 by the American guitarist Vincent Bell, on the DECCA label. The song was recorded that same year by at least 15 orchestras including those of Henry Mancini, Ronnie Alrdrich, Living Strings and Roger Williams. We kennen hem ook als Springwater, was lid van tal van groepen in de jaren zestig van de vorige eeuw, onder meer van Tuesday’s Children. Zijn echte naam was echter Phil Cordell. Met Dan the Banjoman scoorde hij een nummer 1 in Duitsland en ook in Zwitserland en Oostenrijk hoge noteringen. In het nummer, op het Rare Earth label, is trouwens geen banjo te horen. Hij had niet alleen een millionseller op zijn naam in 1965 maar nam onder verschillende namen 40 jaar lang platen op en was tevens bekend als producer van artiesten als Tony Christie en Boney M. Be my woogie boogie baby was een hit in zowel België als Nederland en het was Erik Beekman (Bart van Gogh) die het nummer als filler gebruikte in zijn programma op Radio Mi Amigo in februari 1977. In werkelijkheid was Mr. Walky Talky de in 2006 overleden Drafi Franz Richard Deutscher. Weet je nog? Marmer, Stein und Eisen ofwel marble breaks and iron bends. I was Kaiser Bill’s Batman werd in maart 1974 door Brian Anderson op Radio Mi Amigo gebruikt op naar het tijdsein van zeven uur in de avond met de mededeling dat bij het accurate tijdsignaal een ieder de gelegenheid had de klok gelijk te zetten. Vaak was er wel een afwijking van seconden met de juiste tijd op sommige van de zeezenders. De tune is geschreven door Greenaway en Cook en was oorspronkelijk getiteld ‘Too Much Birdseed’. Het werd als single voor Deram Records opgenomen door platenproducent Noel Walker, met behulp van studiomuzikanten samen met de Mike Sammes Singers. Het fluiten op de plaat was gedaan door John O'Neill, een trompettist en zanger met de Mike Sammes Singers, die bekend stond om zijn fluitvaardigheid. Het nummer Tuxedo Junction werd door Glenn Miller en zijn orkest in 1940 opgenomen maar werd in 1939 gecomponeerd door Erskine Ramsay Hawkins, een trompetist en big band leider. Hij componeerde het samen met saxophonist en arrangeur Bill Johnson. De verwijzing naar het nummer van Glenn Miller in de discografie komt te vervallen. Max Greger - Tuxedo Junction.
