No-one has yet mentioned that this recording is from the famous Burns' Day storm:

Gavin Ford manages the show quite well, even though it must have surely been very difficult: the turntable briefly cuts out 9 times over the first 40 minutes of the recording, then the ship turned to face the wind.

 

The following day's recordings' news bulletins give more information on the devastation: over 40 deaths in the UK and the actor Gorden Kaye (René from 'Allo 'Allo!) was severely injured.
