Geweldig. Ik weet nog dat ik 's nachts de middengolf opnam en elke 90 minuten de Shamrocktapes moest omdraaien.

Ahh, the memories!

 

I was able to hear the closedown of the International Service at midnignt on August 30th. Also around 0030 on the 31st I heard Veronica for the one and only time at home in Scotland. I still have the short aircheck that I recorded from 557 kHz. Poor signal. Atlantis was difficult to hear at this time for me as Norway on 1313 kHz did not close until 2300 hrs if I remember correctly, but after that Atlantis was quite good.

 

I listened to the last day of RNI on 6205 kHz using my Grundig Music Boy portable radio. I recorded the last NSgDX, but cut the songs, on a Sony C120. I listened right through until the final closedown at 2000 hrs. Reception at home on the west coast of Scotland was good for most of the day.

 

I was glad that RNI had short wave as during late summer conditions the medium wave did not skywave to me until around 2100 hrs. So I could not hear Veronica, Atlantis or RNI on AM until that time.

 

I have a QSL card from AJ Beirens for the last short wave broadcast. A nice souvenir.
