"What a joy this morning @bbcberkshire to have George Saunders with me on the show. George was the senior engineer on the Mi Amigo (Caroline). George was the man who got Radio Caroline up and running and I was out there with him on the North Sea all those years ago. If you love radio as I do please listen in to this mornings show and particularly George because he had some fascinating facts to tell."

This interview came about because when Tony was doing an hour on Caroline's 50th anniversary with interviews with Keith Skues and Paul Rowley he asked for listeners to call in with memories and George did. Tony didn't realise he was living in Reading and said at the time he must come into the studio as a guest.

George talks about being recruited for Radio Atlanta, fitting the ship out in Greenore and life on the Mi Amigo including being rescued when it ran aground off Frinton. I've recorded and uploaded the section of the show George is on, 41 minutes.

A two part interview with George is in the last two issues of Offshore Echo's.

The two engineers who recruited him for Atlanta were also involved with the GBOK project, more background than George gave in the interview here:
