De eerste show van Emperor Rosko (ex Radio Caroline) tijdens de openingsdag van BBC Radio One.

Niet iedereen was even enthousiast over het nieuwe pop radiostation in Engeland.

 

"The Radio 1 blast-off left me with mixed feelings.  Perhaps I had been led by the enormous advance publicity to expect too much.

Perhaps my loyalty to the pirates had a biased effect, but to me Radio 1 resembled a poor Big "L" played at half speed.

 

So who came out best?  Tony Blackburn got the most publicity; Rosko had the best show; Procol Harum, Nancy Sinatra, Bee Gees, Box Tops, and Hollies the most plugs.

 

But by Monday morning my radio dial had moved on from 247 to 259"
