Kwalitatief goede opnames uit de moeilijke laatste periode van Caroline als ware zeezender. De omstandigheden om het station gaande te houden moeten zeer moeilijk zijn geweest zoals ook te lezen valt in oa het boek Butterfly upon a wheel. Ik heb mij altijd afgevraagd waarom Caroline niet het pad heeft bewandeld in die laatste periode om het station een daytime relistation te maken met een " zondvloed aan Amerikaanse dominees" alleen al om door te kunnen gaan. In de avond uren had men dan Caroline met enkele deejays voort kunnen zetten, het had zonder twijfel dollars in het laatje gebracht. Maar ja , das achter geschrijf. Zijn de opnames in de omgeving van de kust gemaakt?

I don't think anyone involved in Caroline had much interest in broadcasting religious sermons, even if it brought in money (probably the vast majority of money after the raid).

If Caroline had any sort of organisation in North America, they could've arranged directly with the religious sponsors on a legal basis.

However, they didn't. So, all the religious sponsors (except Roy Masters) went through a third-party called Pan American Broadcasting... who took a massive commission for doing not very much!

Then the tapes would reach Bill Rollins (who was paid by Pan American Broadcasting and Roy Masters' organisation). He would take his own commission (presumably not so massive, but still, he needed to be paid). Then the tapes would be forwarded to Peter Moore... who would then decide how the remaining amount of money would be spent (mostly to buy fuel for the generators, I would imagine), but of course he needed his own expenses paid as well.

By the time the tapes got to the ship, the programmes were totally divorced from the money. The people playing them out mostly weren't getting paid and they thought the religious stuff was boring, so they had little interest in making sure they were played out correctly (or at all).

Until October 1990, there was also the problem that they apparently didn't have a crystal for another frequency... and 558 was occupied by the new London station (Spectrum Radio)... so they stayed mostly off-air for 4 months.
