De download bestaat uit de drie uren en de cue sheets.

Het is een Top 40 met, voor mij, heel veel mooie nummers zoals School's Out (Alice Cooper), Isn't life strange (Moody Blues), Take it easy (Eagles), Day by day (Godspell Cast), It's going to take some time this time (Carpenters), Walking in the rain with the one I love (Love Unlimited), Diary (Bread), Morning has broken (Cat Stevens), Too late to turn back now (Cornelius Bros), (Last night) I didn't get to sleep at all (5th Dimension), Nice to be with you (Gallery), etc. En ook How do you do (Mouth & McNeal) komt voor in deze Top 40.

Valt me op dat het grootste deel van de uitzending in mono is, behalve nr 39 en 29. Heeft iemand die er later in gemixt?
nr 29 sowieso een verrassing: "Willem and Maggy"!

Maar 1972 via satelliet?

Dank je, Rink. De onderste link gaat naar Top x hits van een gegeven jaar, individuele Top 40's kan ik er niet tussen vinden. Maar die staan ook vast wel ergens.

Lang geleden (eind jaren '90 schat ik) bood een Canadees me voor $1000 een harddisk aan met alle, tot dan toe, uitgezonden AT40's. Ik heb dat toen niet gedaan. Want ja, dan heb je ze allemaal en is er niks meer te verzamelen ☹️

Volgens mij hoor je een originele uitzending na de introductie, als je op een link klikt, Ben.

Just for the record: CFN aired the show from June 24, 1972 on June 28, 2008,

and the show from June 14, 1975 a week before on June 21, 2008.

Of course, there might have been replays of these shows as fillers on holidays or other occasions.

The bitrate of CFN on satellite was actually 192 kbps.

To my knowledge, the first AT40 show produced and distributed in stereo was the one from February 24, 1973.

The stereo bits you might encounter in the earlier shows were obviously replacements by Premiere Radio

in the remastered versions. As you might imagine, AT40 purists are not too enthusiastic about this procedure.

Thanks, Best71. I looked through the originally recorded files and I can confirm that this file : 08-06-28 - CFN_RFC - AT 40 - 28_06_08_.ts corresponds with the AT40 of June 24, 1972. Same holds for the show of 1975. It's indeed a 192 kbps stream, stereo 48 kHz samplerate.

The next file, I recorded, was 08-07-05 - CFN_RFC - AT 40 - 05_07_08_.ts, so I must have skipped a week back then. It is a Special AT40 that originally aired on July 4, 1979, The 40 Top hits of the disco era, I missed the first ten in that aircheck, so it starts at number 30.

In 2008, I recorded some of the 70s and 80s shows off the CFN webstream myself.

Compared to satellite, the bitrate there was only 128 kbps but that was still way ahead of what most American stations had to offer.

I don't think that you have skipped a recording week.

Also, you didn't miss the first ten songs of the Disco hits special (July 7, 1979).

Starting with the show from October 7, 1978, AT40 switched from a 3-hour to the 4-hour-format.

So, when Premiere Radio was issuing any 70s shows from after that date, they usually included the first hour of the show as an option.

Some radio stations played it, many didn't. CFN usually only played 3-hour-shows in their 70s slot on Saturday mornings.

But - as mentioned above - they sometimes replayed those shows as fillers on other dates in their 4-hour-entirety.

I have no knowledge whether the Disco hits special was amongst those.

To illustrate the point, I will post a complete 4-hour 70s show from 1979 in a separate thread.

My first CFN recording was on December 29, 2007 and the last one is from October 30, 2010 and in total I have 167 of them. Most of them still to be sorted out.

Dat verklaart alles Ben. in 2008 was satelliet al heel gewoon, in 1972 nog niet voor radio. Dat kwam rond 1980.

Ik ken Casey Kasem van de AFN die via een kleine FM-zender in Soesterberg uitzond.

De eerste die satellietradio in NL grootschalig aanpakte was de VOO met Europa Radio in 1986 gedurende de Firato.

Europa Radio was ook via diverse kabelexploitanten te beluisteren.

Twee jaar later deed Veronica het nog eens met Veronica Lokaal. Dit keer werd uitgezonden via diverse etherzenders van lokale omroepen.

Na de Firato besloot de VOO om door te gaan, totdat ze een paar weken later werden teruggefloten door de overheid.

Wow, sounds as if you've got a real treasure chest right there!

Indeed, the 80s shows aired on Sunday afternoons.

CFN also carried Casey's HAC countdown show "American Top 20" until his retirement in 2009.
