Don Charles And His Singing Dogs – We’re going to the circus/ Happy Birthday. Eén van de meest gekke platen uit de jaren vijftig van de vorige eeuw die begint alsof er een circusoptreden gaat plaats vinden: "Ladies and gentlemen, this circus now has the honour of presenting to you the unique and world famous attraction Don Charles Singing dogs." Dezelfde zin tot en met het woord "attraction," uit het nummer ‘We’re going to the circus’, gevolgd door een naamjingle, werd op Radio Atlantis en Radio Mi Amigo door Joop Verhoof gebruikt aan het begin van zijn programma. En dan was er van de blaffende honden ook nog eens hun versie van ‘Happy Birthday’. Peter van Dam gebruikte het op Radio Mi Amigo voor de productie van een commercial voor Dierenpension St. Bernhard. Het nummer werd op RNI door Alan West gebruikt wanneer hij in zijn programma weer iemand ging feliciteren. En het was Tony Allan op RNI die het zo’n mooie jingle vond ter promotie van Alan West dat hij, Tony, spontaan begon mee te blaffen.

One of the most crazy records from the fifties of the last century that starts as if a circus performance is about to take place: "Ladies and gentlemen, this circus now has the honour of presenting to you the unique and world famous attraction Don Charles Singing dogs." The same sentence up to and including the word "attraction," from the song 'We're going to the circus', followed by a name jingle, was used on Radio Atlantis and Radio Mi Amigo by Joop Verhoof at the beginning of his programme. And then there was the barking dogs' version of 'Happy Birthday'. Peter van Dam used it on Radio Mi Amigo for the production of a commercial for Dierenpension St. Bernhard. The song was used on RNI by Alan West when he started to congratulate someone in his program. And it was Tony Allan on RNI who found it such a beautiful jingle to promote Alan West that he, Tony, spontaneously started barking along.
