Nice recording of Kenny James (Kenny Page) on Caroline on 28th July 1976 from just before 1900-2100. Nearly 50 years ago.

Kenny was, like me from Scotland and had a career in commercial radio as well as long spells on the Voice of Peace.

I remember I was working for a Scottish commercial station in the 90's and we received a demo tape from Kenny who had just returned from Israel. The demo was brilliant, but we were warned about employing him by someone who had worked with him at Radio Clyde. He was described as a loose cannon, so unfortunately I never got the chance to work with him.

Kenny died way too young.

Nice recording, Ian. The first 8 minutes were recorded from Radio Mi Amigo on 192 meters at low power, and after that, it switches to Radio Caroline on 259 meters at higher power.

Hi Hans,

Mi Amigo was still on 259 at this time so the retune was from Caroline’s 192 channel to 259 when Caroline took over from Mi Amigo at 1900. The 192 transmitter went off air at 2000 (BST) if I remember correctly.

Die laag vermogen ( 6 Kilowatt) 192 zender klonk heel goed, lekker helder en was diep in Engeland vaak beter te ontvangen dan de 259 zender, die met 4 tot 5 x meer vermogen uitzond.

De opname loopt van 1851 tot 2058. Bij het opnemen is om 19u overgeschakeld van 192 naar 259 tijdens de jingle . De jingle van Tony Allan werd gedraaid tussen de uitzendingen van Mi Amigo en Caroline.

Op 28 juli 76 was zijn naam Kenny James bij Caroline maar twee dagen ervoor had hij ook de naam Kenny Page gebruikt. Een maand ervoor was hij begonnen als JImmy James bij Caroline.
