M'n eerste ervaring met USA radio beleefde ik in Hilversum op m'n zolderkamer in het ouderlijk huis toen ik de FM band afstruinde. Het was AFN - Soesterberg. Het station van de Amerikaanse militairen die op de vliegbasis waren gelegerd. Prachtig was het, eerst wat ruis maar nadat ik een antenne had gemaakt ging het stukken beter. Van die zender "leende" ik de later veel gebruikte jingle "Yesterday". Ik nam 'em op met 4 sporen van een kleine draagbare radio. Wie wat meer over AFN - Soesterberg wil lezen en nog niet geboren was in 1964 kan hier z'n hart ophalen. Uit Radio Bulletin van december 1964. Dat was "mijn" AFN, op 93.1 mHz. Juul
