Geplaatst 23 maart23 mrt Thank you for these Caroline 55Great recordings. Nice memories of the times when radio was worth listening to.
Geplaatst 23 maart23 mrt Grappig NL dj's van Monique op Caroline, werden ze ook betaald door Caroline of betaalde de Monique organisatie hen voor de uren op Caroline?

Geplaatst 24 maart24 mrt The djs of the future Dutch station on 819 were on board because their organisation thought the station would be able to start up quickly. But problems with the Valcom fibreglass mast delayed plans. To keep busy, Ad and Erwin made a few programmes on 558.

I think it may be from the following day.1)According to the time-checks, the first one is around 1859 to 1957 and the second one is 1958 to 2043.The first recording ends with the first 2 minutes of Stealers Wheel ('Everything Will Turn Out Fine') which is just a 3 minute track. You'd perhaps expect to hear the end of the same track at the start of the second recording, but instead you hear Wet Wet Wet ('Temptation') fading out.2)Also at 21m55s on the 2nd recording, John says it's a Thursday evening. But 27th April 1988 was a Wednesday.3)The weather is announced on each recording (29m5s and 28m10s, respectively). It's similar, but slightly different ("overcast" for the 1st one and "cloud will die out" for the second one). I checked the historical records for RAF Manston and the weather was similar for both days. It was indeed overcast on the 27th and clearer on the 28th.Source: https://weatherspark.com/h/d/147918/1988/4/27/Historical-Weather-on-Wednesday-April-27-1988-at-Manston-United-Kingdom and https://weatherspark.com/h/d/147918/1988/4/28/Historical-Weather-on-Thursday-April-28-1988-at-Manston-United-Kingdom4)The second recording is much better quality, making me think that they were either recorded in different locations... or reception conditions had dramatically improved by the time the 2nd recording was made.Well. if anyone has any thoughts on this, I'd like to hear them.

If you consult Jan-Fre's Index 27th April 1956-2040 John Bibby and 28th April 2030-2115 John Bibby, the same 4 records are listed before the advert for Lotto 6/49. Therefore 28th April must be correct for the second recording.Mvg,John C
