Al jarenlang heb ik een kopie van een Caroline studioband in mijn bezit, de datum zou zijn 3 Juni 1973, maar ik heb mijn twijfels of dit programma ook ooit is uitgezonden, kijk, Caroline 259 en 389 waren nog bezig met nonstop testuitzendingen op 3 Juni 1973 en de officiele start met gepresenteerde programma's was op Maandag 4 Juni 1973. Weet iemand of dit programma op Zondagmiddag ook echt is uitgezonden??

Wel een leuke show, Andy Archer samen met Hans Parker, door Andy aangekondigd als "the secretary of the Caroline Club", en was dat niet Hans Verbaan van de FRC-H??? Ik dacht het wel omdat de FRC-H ook de Caroline Club runde en Hans Verbaan was uiteraard de man achter de Free Radio Campaign Holland. Ook draaien ze leuke platen voor Club leden zoals Frank Leonhard van de Free radio Campaign Germany, Roland C. Pearson (Buster) en fotograaf Theo Dencker.

18 Februari 1973 is ook niet correct, in heb hier een opname van 18 Februari 1973, moet 'm nog digitaliseren, en toen werd de Caroline Club request hour gepresenteerd door Andy Archer en Bert Bennett live vanaf het zendschip... En wat ik aanbood is een vooraf opgenomen tape uit de studio aan de Van Hogendorpstraat.

As an example, some of the records played, are from a later date.

I have also this same recording for the third of June 1973.

On trhe FRC Holland selling list 1-12-1974 :

"The Radio Caroline Club Hour, with Andy Archer and Hans Parker of the Caroline Club, from the studio tape, from Sunday afternoon 3 June 1973, only 10 guilders".

Een studiotape met een datum erop betekent niet dat hij ook effectief is uitgezonden op die datum.

Dat was ook de insteek waardoor ik deze opname plaatste. Ik vroeg me al heel lang af of deze band ook ooit is uitgezonden, weet je, veel banden werden door sommige zeezenders "her-gebruikt"  als er geen actuele tapes aan boord waren.

Als je goed luistert dan hoor je ook dat er geen enkele dag of datum wordt genoemd en ik denk dat de tape dan ook bedoeld was om uurtjes op te vullen. Vergelijk ze met de "paniek-tapes"  die bij Veronica aan boord waren.

I've just checked that out. Tie a Yellow Ribbon was released 19th February. Carly Simon's The Right Thing to Do was released in March 1973. I'll put the file down as 3rd June and studiotape never broadcast.

I don't believe this programme was ever broadcast. Radio Caroline was still testing with non stop music 3rd June 1973 and then starting full programming the following day on 773 kHz in English and 1187 with Dutch programmes all day and English at night.

 

As far as I am aware the Caroline Club request show was never broadcast during this period of the station which ended on the 26th June with a genny failure.

 

The Caroline Club by this time was in decline having not delivered any of the promised goods to members. The money lined some pockets and I could probably guess who benefitted!

Indeed John, its one of those where we will probably never have a definitive answer.
