    No-one has mentioned that the second Cherry Marshall recording appears to be a studio tape.

     

    I think it's the first and only time I've heard Caroline 558 in hi-fi quality!

     

    I'd be intrigued to know of the provenance of it...

    The mystery has been solved slightly.

     

    This advert is from Anoraks UK (22nd July 1989 edition). It offers various "studio quality" recordings including one hour from Cherry Marshall on 23rd April 1989.

     

    So these ARE apparently real recordings made on the ship... (when I first saw this advert many years ago, I probably assumed that "studio quality" was hyperbole and that they were just "good signal" recordings from the Kent coast, for example).

     

    I am still intrigued as to who was "Anchor Productions". Presumably someone intimately involved with Radio Caroline at the time...
