Graag gedaan. Ik wel. Dit was het vervolg. Deze kon ik zeer goed ontvangen op mijn wekkerradio toen. Ik was 19. Opnemen ging toen nie, dus het is voor mij altijd ook een herbeleving - waren mooie tijden met Delmare, Mi Amigo en Caroline

Yes, Gerard. I thought that Marc mentioned a new DJ in Baken 16 on 17th January. I don't think that he would have said anything if Hugo's first programme was the following day.

In Baken 16 of January 17, just before 2 pm, Marc says that he does not yet know exactly how the hours of the departed Peter van Dam between 4 pm and 6 pm will be filled that day. It could be that he (Marc) takes care of the two hours or that they (Marc & Hugo) do it together. He emphatically does not mention that they will each do one hour. Unfortunately, there is no recording available, so we don't know what happened.

 

On January 18, Marc will do the hour 4pm and 5pm and in the second hour you will hear Hugo Meulenhoff helped by Marc. I have stated that this is the 'real' first program of Hugo.

I have just played my file and in the intro to Jukebox, Bart says that it is Tuesday 18th January. I see that Jan-Fre has the date as the 17th.

I might have misunderstood what Gerard was saying. I took it that he was saying that Martin's post was incorrect. But maybe he was speculating that Hugo's first programme was on the 17th, of which we don't have evidence. (Maybe try messaging Marc on Facebook to see if he remembers?)

Hugo Meulenhof first appeared on Mi Amigo on January 17th 1977, I know because I was listening! I was off school with flu and enjoying a good Skywave signal on 1562 kHz, so much so that I taped some airchecks of Baken 16. Marc Jacobs introduced Hugo to the listeners during the first hour and Hugo read the news at 1pm. I still have those airchecks on a cassette somewhere in the attic.

15 minutes into the programme Hugo announced this is Mi Amigo without Peter Van Dam. Would he only make such an announcement on the first day Peter was missing?

Ik hoor in deze opname Hugo 2 x zeggen dat het een maandag is.

Op 33 min 30 sec heeft Hugo het over een 'fraaie maandag" en op 49 min 2 sec. wenst Hugo iedereen een "plezierige maandagavond" dus daarom denk ik dat het toch maandag 17 januari 1977 is. Het staat ook in de bestandsnaam.

Verwarrend is wel dat Bart na 18 uur zegt dat het dinsdag 18 januari 1977 is. John had het daar ook al over. Of Bart zit fout of de verkeerde band is ingestart om 18 uur.

Dankjewel Gerard. Ik ga er in mee dat het 17 januari 1977 is. Ooit was het één opname die is geplitst. Het weerbericht van 13:00 en 18:00 uur klopt ook. De verkeerde band is ingestart.

Beste Hans,

I don't know why I didn't consult the Mi Amigo timeline in Radiopedia. It states that Hugo's first programme was 1700-1800 on Monday 17th. It also states that Marc and Hugo replaced Frank and Hans Brouwers on the 17th.
