Lawrie Hallett has recently uploaded a two part documentary he made in late 1983 When Pirates Waived The Rules to Mixcloud. Originally made for LBC, their lawyers got cold feet when they heard it so he then took it to BFBS who did broadcast it in Germany, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Gibraltar etc in early 1984. Both parts are 30 minutes long. Part One is on offshore radio up to 1983. Has original interviews with Tony Blackburn, John Peel, Ronan O'Rahilly in a European city with a barrel organ playing outside, Ross Revenge engineer/DJ Andy Howard and John Burch. https://www.mixcloud.com/terella/when-pirates-waived-the-rules-part-one Part Two on landbased pirates…

The below article is from radiotoday.co.uk Atlantic 252 frequency to go silent again The frequency used by Atlantic 252 through the late 80s and 90s is to fall silent once again as Ireland’s state broadcaster turns off its longwave version of RTÉ Radio 1. The station will stop transmitting its 252 longwave service from the end of next month as it pushes listeners to FM and digital radio instead. The station has been on 252kHZ since 17th March 2004 but will now push listeners to FM and digital radio instead when transmissions from the mast in Clarkstown, Co Meath, end on Monday 27th October. RTÉ says the vast majority (98%) of Radio 1 listeners will be…

Ik kwam op de "Tube" een prachtig filpje tegen over Radio Caroline in de 60's. Ongelofelijk scherp ! En mooie kleuren. Veel kijk plezier Published on Apr 16, 2015 50 Years ago a British Pathé film crew left Felixstowe harbour on the tender 'Offshore 1' for a visit to Radio Caroline's MV Mi Amigo. The footage of their 2 day film shoot was heavily edited and ended up as a 3 minute item, used as part of a short Pathé cinema special about 'Water'. The Pathé archive recently published this 'Water-clip' on YouTube where many of you may have seen it. The picture quality and lighting of the professional cameraman were pristine, since it was shot on 35mm cinema film (…
