The Breakfast Show That Never Was! Very early on March 3rd 1968, Roger Day was up and about preparing his breakfast show and not taking too much notice when a large boat came alongside the Mi Amigo. But within minutes, the new arrivals had taken Caroline off air and were preparing to tow the ship away. Roger stayed with the station after the Marine Offences Act came in to force, but Caroline's income had been decimated so that both ships Mi Amigo and MV Caroline were eventually seized for debts. It has always troubled Roger that he was unable to send his show, but now, fifty years later to the minute, he will. Join Roger live from 5.30am on Saturday 3r…

Juke Box Drive Pirate Radio Special with Roger Kent Part One: "Born on the day the Empire Windrush docked in Tilbury, Roger Kent grew up in Holloway London. He trained as an apprentice in Building Services, and enjoyed life playing in bands and enjoying R'n'B, Reggae, and Soul as it moved from London's underground to mainstream music. He became a successful Club Dj working big venues, including the major Mecca Ballrooms. He'd loved the 60's pirates and was delighted when RNI came on-air, and decided that he would one day work on the Mebo 2. It took him 3 years, and after great persistence, he arrived on the Mebo 2 on 14th February 1974 (Valentine's Day). This is his story…

Uploaded earlier this month by TennRadioHOF: "This is the audio from the historic first ever satellite broadcast of the WSM Grand Ole Opry in 1980. The show was sent to and broadcast from 208 Radio Luxembourg, hosted by Bob Stewart. This two hour matinee show aired in the evening in Europe, Northern Africa, and Scandinavia. Most of the 1980 Opry stars make an appearance, along with Boxcar Willie." Two hours long, starts with announcements by Bob Stewart who then hands over to regular Opry announcer Grant Taylor.

Nice to explore during the weekend is a 10 hours series, narrated by Tenessee Ernie Ford with assistance from professor David Morton, way back 32 years ago as it was transmitted on several AFRTS outlets on one of the Holiday weekends. It brings the bright history of American Popular Music including the North and South of the United States. So enjoy and please give me your comments. : http://bars.rug.nl/download/8881f8086e254a59 filename: afn_american_music_part_1.mp3 filesize: 58.5MB available until: 2012-11-02 http://bars.rug.nl/download/8f2c27d2dfeed153 filename: afn_american_music_part_2.mp3 filesize: 54.5MB available until: 2012-11-02 http://b…
